CYFS Trunk or Treat
The NKHS Children, Youth, and Family Services (CYFS) Department is again hosting their popular Truck or Treat event at our Derby office on Oct. 28 from 3-5 pm. All community members are welcome!
Active Shooter Response Certification Training (ALICE Training)
This two-day instructor course teaches proactive response options and survival strategies for violent critical incidents, ensuring a trauma-informed approach to civilian active threat response training. The age- and ability-appropriate training and robust resources make it the best training in the market to bring to our community. The goal of the ALICE program is to empower individuals to participate in their own survival in the gap between when a violent situation begins and when law enforcement arrives.

Youth Mental Health First Aid Training September 2026
Youth Mental Health First Aid teaches parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, neighbors, health and human services workers, and other caring citizens how to help adolescents (age 12-18) experiencing a mental health or addiction challenge. Youth Mental Health First Aid is primarily for adults who regularly interact with young people. The course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan to help young people.

QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) Training
NKHS offers QPR Gatekeeper Training for people of any age to raise awareness, dispel myths and misconceptions, and teach three skills that can help save a life. A QPR trainee will learn to recognize the warning signs of suicide, how to offer hope, how to get help and save a life.

Starting Over Strong VT is a program that helps people recover and rebuild their lives after a disaster. Join the support group to share your experiences with the recent flood and come together as a community to learn skills on how to cope with the aftermath.
