Suicide Prevention and Awareness
We can all help prevent suicide. The 988 Lifeline provides 24/7, free and confidential support for people in distress, prevention and crisis resources for you or your loved ones, and best practices for professionals in the United States.
Vermont 211 provides all people in Vermont with free access to community resources information and referral (I&R). This access includes personal assistance by telephone by dialing 211, by text, and through an online, searchable database of services.
AFSP focuses on eliminating the loss of life from suicide by: delivering innovative prevention programs, educating the public, raising funds for suicide research and program and reaching out to those who have lost someone to suicide.
GunSafe VT provides education as well as resources for firearm storage and gun locks.
Counseling on Access to Lethal Means training helps learner feel prepared to have conversations abound safety.
C-SSRS teaches how to help someone in a mental health struggle.
The Facing Suicide VT initiative is working in many different areas to support suicide prevention.
Community Resources and Trainings
Mental Health First Aid is a course that teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. The training gives you the skills you need to reach out and provide initial help and support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem or experiencing a crisis.
CHL's mission is to build healthy communities through educational resources, leadership training, policy development and technical assistance. They focus on improving school and community health.
